Welcome to family site. You can post any opinions, comments and good experiences or news, current events that involve relationships within the family and how we can benefited in applying it to our household!
Today's hectic lifestyles make it hard to live the 'family first' dream. But you can create a family- and comfort-oriented home. It's all a matter of staging your house for the kind of play you'd like to act out.
With children living in your home, we probably don't need to tell you this is not likely to be a good time to have a white-on-white or glass, glass and more glass décor scheme. And if you think that will change as the children grow and the pets get older...well, everyone has dreams.
Budget? What Budget?
Like many families, yours likely has budget considerations. But let's throw those out in the advance planning stage. Look at homemaking magazines and web sites for ideas. Window shop at exclusive (read out-of-your-price range) stores. Watch the seemingly unending stream of do-it-yourself shows on TV.
Then sit down as a family (on whatever furniture you have), consider your needs, and start narrowing down your likes and dislikes. You might need furniture that will hold up to the demands of young children. You know: the spills; the impromptu diaper changes; the jumping; the fort-making.
Get Used to It
So, you've decided what type of furniture your family needs. Now, time to talk about that budget. Your print, online, in stores and TV research helped you discover what you like and what you don't like, as well as the expensive options to choose from.
But...you've got all those young, messy kids. And eventually they will be older (still-messy) teens. And buying furniture now shouldn't mean shelving the kids' college plans. So let's talk bargains amongst the high prices.
Check out local garage/tag and estate sales. Stalk the online for sale by owner services--craigslist is one option, freecycle is another. And don't forget to pop into your local Salvation Army or Goodwill branch-you just never know where the furniture bargains will pop up.
New Take
But for some, new furniture should be just that - new. If you can work your budget to purchase new, it still doesn't need to cost a fortune.
There are options to fit every budget. Mass retailers offer family furniture of all types. Check the sales and clearance items at your local high-end department stores and furniture retailers. The options also include the local furniture clearance center or a wholesale Amish furniture dealer. If you look around, you're likely to find what you want to create family comfort and set the stage for family fun for years to come. And all at a price you can afford.
